California - The Sequel

Frequent readers of these pages will remember the story about our last expedition to California with our 6 months old daughter Geraldine. It was a spectacular success. So we decided to up the ante and repeat the expedition, this time with two little daughters.

This is the story, as it took place in the fall of 2003.

You will have to imagine most of it yourself though, as I don't seem to find the time these days to exercise my literary skills. So it's basically just a bunch of pictures. You can either browse all the 165 images in chronological sequence, or eye through some of the vignettes that we prepared below for your viewing pleasure.

Off to San Francisco - Where we experience how a 12 hour plane flight really feels like 24 hours, just as the theory of relativity predicts.
Chilling with Mary & Shawn - A joyful place to cure from jet lag and prepare again for a long trip home.
Cruzin' with Don & Roslyn - Much laughs in the monastery from where we explore the Santa Cruz attractions.
The Dogs - How to not get trampled and eaten by two Leonberger units.
The Aquarium - Where you can watch and eat all sorts of fish, especially jelly fish, well those we actually just watched.
Shopping with Dirk - A shopping frenzy at Costco, the pinnacle of Western civilization.
The Beach - There's the beach. Then there are the waves, the surfers, the sunsets, the sand, the pelicans, the works.
Lounging with Donna & Fulvio - Wining and dining and hunting for rare consumer goods in the speciality stores of this country.
The Pizza - The best pizza this side of the Asteroid Belt still comes right out of a backyard in San Jose.
Fog City - Except there was no fog this time, well almost, anyway we had a good time.
...Back to Zurich - A few bad meals later and we are back in Switzerland.
