Another nice morning. We drive up to Pinos Altos which turns out to be not as good for breakfast as expected. We eat something somewhere anyway. Then we head South where we soon leave the mountains behind us and get out onto the wide plains.
We stop at the City of Rocks State Park where they have nice camp sites among the volcanic rock formations. We decide to stay here for the day and have a lazy afternoon for a change. Unfortunately the wind is blowing quite a bit and so it isn't as relaxing as we hoped for. Rebecca even gets a serious attack of boredom and complains vehemently.

As the sun goes down we go for a walk and things turn much nicer. There is a beautiful sunset, the wind calms down and a nice display of stars emerges. At the horizon we can see the glow of a few towns.
