Good morning |
|
In the morning we check out Calistoga, eat lunch in the back of the grocery store and then get rolling toward the coast. From Calistoga it's a really nice drive through the vineyards and then on to the long and winding traverse across the coastal mountains. The sun and the blue sky are with us all the way and spirits are high. Just before meeting the coast, the road passes through a wonderful redwood forest, it seems like we are driving through a huge cathedral.

Then we reach the Pacific, and so does the fog. It's always surprising to go through this change of climate, from the sun drenched hills inland, to the cold and foggy coast. In Mendocino we try to find food but soon discover, that most of the shops are closed because of a power outage earlier in the day. So we do a little bit of exploring and then go find a bed up in Fort Bragg.
